Poughkeepsie, New York – Dutchess County Executive and candidate for Governor Marc Molinaro today announced that he will suspend all campaign activities, including paid advertising, to honor those murdered on September 11th, 2001.
“It was appropriate the Governor and legislature moved Primary Day to Thursdaythis year in honor of those heroes murdered on Sept 11, 2011 and those killed in the World Trade Center bombing of 1993. In keeping with that intent, my campaign will suspend all campaign activities, including paid advertising,” said Molinaro.
Tomorrow is the 17th anniversary of the attacks which claimed over 3,000 lives and devastated Lower Manhattan. The attacks ushered in changes in everything from how we travel, to building security; from personal awareness to national security. New Yorkers are tough and today Lower Manhattan has been transformed into a 24/7 community, the Freedom Tower has reclaimed our skyline and September 11th Memorial and Museum is an international destination.
Concluded Molinaro, “In the days and weeks following the attacks of September 11th, Americans came together in a way that I had never experienced. We need to rekindle that sense of shared purpose, of community and the singular belief that the best days of our state and nation are yet to come. We at least do our part by setting aside the business of campaigning for one day.”
